What Causes Fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS) is a big word for an affliction that feels like a worn-out Arthritic-Multiple Sclerosis and Alzheimer’s in one, coming down with the Flu. FMS is difficult to diagnosis because there is no objective proof. So they say... Most doctors write it off as psychological hysteria. “It’s all in your head.” Medical care, or lack of it can be as exasperating as the disease.

4 - Theories.

It is critical that we recognize those of us who have Fibromyalgia so we can find the common denominator that is causing this disease. A virus? Life style? Stress? Or is it something in the water, air, or even our food?

  • Some researchers believe that a viral infection kicks off the syndrome. But after the initial infection clears, patients might still have chronic smoldering infection that can’t be picked up in a lab test. So says Ronald Glaser of Ohio State University of Columbus, Ohio.

  • The body cannot off-gas the phosphorus that is burned for energy in the cell. So it is re-collected as nuggets in the soft tissue. So says Dr St. Armand MD author “What your doctor may not tell you about FM” A must read for the symptomatic.

  • Your digestive PH is too acid, or perhaps alkaline. Mal-nutrition caused by all the plastic food we eat.

  • Stress - This we do know. Physical or psychological trauma triggers a flare up like Post Stress Disorder (PSD) after surgery/accident/birth or a death/divorce/abuse in the family.

Do you think you might have Fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia adversely effects many seemingly unrelated areas of the body, nervous system, and mind. Take this test. If you suffer from 3 or more of these blocks (shown above) you may have Fibromyalgia. You may also realize you know other people that have got "it" -- and don’t even know "it" disease.

Note: Medical doctors only use the first category “Tender Points” for purposes of medical diagnosis. If you hurt in 11 of these points and have eliminated other possible diseases by an expert medical physician then you may have Fibromyalgia. Sciatica on the left and/or right are 2 out of 18.
